Werther

Werther, who passed away in January 2001, was one of the most important sires of the modern Hanoverian breed. He was a foundation sire and a versatile producer. The offspring of Werther are performance horses of the highest quality. At present they have earned more than two million Deutschmarks in competitions. The offspring of Werther mostly inherit his powerful type and his exceptional movements. He also passed on excellent rideability and a fantastic temperament. Werther was the sire of 39 licensed sons, five of them are State stallions at the Celle State Stud. In 1992 he was honored as "Hanoverian Stallion of the Year".
Werther is by the great Hanoverian stallion, Wendekreis, from whom he gets strength, bone and jumping ability. From his Marcio xx damline, Werther inherits his wonderful movement.

About Werther's Grandsire Ferdinand: Ferdinand was the first German "millionaire" based on progeny earnings. The majority of his progeny were successful show jumpers including the 1960 Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Ferdl. Ferdinand produced 13 approved sons including the renowned stallions Wendekreis, Wedekind and Winnetou for Celle, and Furst Ferdinand for Westphalia. This line is remarkable as the jumping abilities continue through each generation.
